Frequently Asked Questions

What is Bingr.com?

Bingr.com is a URL redirection and tracking service. You create an account with bingr.com, then you can create bingr redirect links that point to any (well, almost any) URL you desire. Your site visitors click on the bingr redirect link, and bingr will track statistics about who is clicking your links. Reports are made available through your account pages.

Who is the service designed for?

Bloggers are the intended users of the service. Some website owners may find the service useful, but because links are only tracked for 30 days, it is more useful for bloggers who have rapidly changing content.

Why does the tracking stop after 30 days?

Tracking is for 30 days because a.) bloggers don't have much need to track an outbound link in an article that is more than 30 days old, and b.) we have a practical need to clean out the database of old tracking records to keep the site fast, reliable, and free.

But I want to track my links for longer than 30 days?

Not a problem - you can always restart the tracking at any time - this will delete your old tracking data, and re-initiate your 30 day tracking period. If you need your old data, then simply save the report to your hard drive before restarting the campaign.

After the tracking stops, do my links still work?

Yes. Your links will continue to work, and your historical reports will still be available. You just won't be tracking new data (unless you decide to restart the tracking campaign).

Is there a limit to the number of links I can track?

Yes, you can track up to 100 links at the same time. Once you reach that limit, you will have to wait for tracking on one of your other links to end, at which point you can begin to track more.

Do Bingr redirect links to my site still count for search engine rankings?

Yes. Bingr uses 301 "Permanently Moved" rediret headers, meaning that redirect links to your site will count just as any other link would.

Why can't I use Bingr.com redirects in my SPAM emails?

If we let you use Bingr.com in spam messages, then Bingr would eventually get added to the known blacklists, which wouldn't be good for anyone. Therefore, we are very strict in stopping spammers from using this service. Do not include a bingr.com link in any commercial email - again, the service is for bloggers, not spammers.

What if I am having a problem with the site?
